PT-141, also called bremelanotide, is a peptide that supports sexual desire and arousal by working on the brain rather than on blood flow. At mobivIVe, doctor-reviewed PT-141 is supplied as a discreet prefilled pen at R1,890, delivered nationwide across South Africa. Below is what it does, who it suits, what it costs, and how to get started with our doctor-led team. New to PT-141? Read our full guide on what PT-141 is and how it works.
What PT-141 does. PT-141 activates melanocortin receptors in the brain that drive desire and arousal. That is different from Viagra-type tablets, which only increase blood flow and need arousal to work. Bremelanotide is the active ingredient of Vyleesi, approved by the US FDA in 2019 for low sexual desire in premenopausal women, where the trials showed a real but modest benefit.
Who it suits. PT-141 appeals to men and women with low libido or arousal difficulties, and to men with erectile problems, including when tablets have not worked. It is used as needed, about 45 minutes before intimacy, rather than every day.
How to start, in 3 simple steps
Message us on WhatsApp. Tell our doctor-led team your goal.
Medical questionnaire. Complete a short questionnaire, reviewed by our registered doctor. A consultation is arranged when your screening calls for one. If it is safe and suitable, a script is issued.
Delivered to your door. Your prefilled pen is couriered anywhere in South Africa, with clear dosing instructions.
Is PT-141 right for me? PT-141 suits adults who want to support desire and arousal as part of a medically-guided plan. Because it can raise blood pressure for a few hours after a dose, it is not suitable if your blood pressure is not under control or you have heart disease, and our doctor screens for this before anything is dispensed. Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you take naltrexone.
Approx. doses: 20 doses at 1mg (men) or 10 doses at 2mg (women)
What it is
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a 7-amino-acid peptide that works on the melanocortin receptors in the brain, the centres that drive desire and arousal. Unlike Viagra-type tablets, which act on blood flow, PT-141 works on the nervous system, so it supports desire itself and is used by both men and women. It is used for low libido, arousal difficulties and erectile dysfunction. Each prefilled pen holds 20mg: 20 doses for men or 10 doses for women.
Used for
Low libido and reduced sexual desire, in men and women
Arousal difficulties
Erectile dysfunction, including when tablets have not worked

Viagra-type tablets (PDE-5 inhibitors) increase blood flow and only work once you are aroused. PT-141 acts on the nervous system, so it supports desire itself, and it can be used by both men and women.
It is injected under the skin about 45 minutes before intimacy, as needed. On the mobivIVe pen the usual dose is 15 clicks (1mg) for men and 30 clicks (2mg) for women. Never use more than one dose in 24 hours, or more than eight doses a month.
The most common are nausea, which usually eases with later doses, facial flushing or warmth, and headache. PT-141 can cause a small, short rise in blood pressure for a few hours after a dose, which is why it is not suitable with uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart disease.
At mobivIVe, doctor-reviewed PT-141 is R1,890 per prefilled pen, delivered nationwide. One pen holds 20 doses for men or 10 for women. Yes, it is dispensed on a valid medical script after a questionnaire reviewed by our registered doctor, with a consultation arranged when your screening calls for one.
