B Vitamins, Magnesium & Hydration

Energy IV Drip
in South Africa

An energy IV drip is a hydration and B-vitamin infusion, given into a vein by a registered nurse, that people book when a demanding week, exam season or training block lies ahead. At mobivIVe there are three energy IV drip options in South Africa: The Beast (Energy Boost IV Therapy) at R1,500, V8 (High Performance and Endurance IV Therapy) at R1,700 and The Student Drip at R750, each taking about 45 minutes. The Athletic Endurance and Performance Programme costs R9,100 for 5 x NAD+ 250mg plus 2 x V8 drips. Find us at our lounges in Sunninghill, Stellenbosch and Queenstown, or book a mobile drip in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

What is in it. The Beast combines glutathione, vitamin C, the Myers cocktail (B vitamins, magnesium and calcium) and a B complex. V8 adds L-carnitine, glutamine and vitamin B12 to that base, and The Student Drip keeps it simple with vitamin C, thiamine (B1) and a B complex. According to the NHS, thiamine and vitamin B12 help the body release energy from food, and B12 also helps make red blood cells. The NHS adds that magnesium helps turn the food we eat into energy. L-carnitine helps carry fats into the mitochondria, where cells burn them for fuel.

Who chooses it. Busy professionals pick The Beast before a heavy week, students choose The Student Drip during exams, and runners, cyclists and teams choose V8 as a sports IV drip after long sessions. The honest picture: your body needs these vitamins to make energy, but if your levels are already normal, extra may not make you feel different, and Cleveland Clinic notes limited evidence for IV vitamins in healthy people. Competitive athletes, note that the WADA Prohibited List (M2.2) bans IV infusions of more than 100 mL per 12-hour period, unless received during hospital treatment, surgery or clinical investigations, or covered by a Therapeutic Use Exemption.

How to book, in 3 simple steps

  1. Book online. Choose your drip, a walk-in lounge (Sunninghill, Stellenbosch or Queenstown) or a mobile drip at your home, office or hotel, and a time at book.mobivive.co.za.
  2. Medical screening. You complete a short medical questionnaire before your drip, so anything that needs extra care is picked up first.
  3. Relax while a registered nurse gives your drip. Most drips take about 45 minutes; NAD+ is given slowly over 90 to 120 minutes.

Is an energy drip right for me? Each visit starts with a medical screening questionnaire, which a registered nurse reviews under the protocols of our medical director, Dr Chris van Zyl. Tell us first if you have a heart, kidney or liver condition, are pregnant or take chronic medication. If you compete under anti-doping rules, speak to your federation before booking, because our 200ml and 1000ml bags are both above the WADA limit. The nurse places a small cannula and the drip runs for about 45 minutes, while you work, study or rest.

Frequently asked questions

An energy IV drip is an infusion of fluids, B vitamins, magnesium and vitamin C given into a vein by a registered nurse. Your body uses B vitamins and magnesium to release energy from food. People choose it as a hydration and vitamin top-up before a demanding week, during exams or after hard training.

The Beast contains glutathione, vitamin C, the Myers cocktail and a B complex. V8 builds on that with L-carnitine, glutamine and vitamin B12, and is chosen by people who train hard. The Student Drip is a lighter mix of vitamin C, thiamine (B1) and a B complex at a student-friendly price.

The Student Drip costs R750, The Beast R1,500 and V8 R1,700, and each takes about 45 minutes. The Athletic Endurance and Performance Programme costs R9,100 for 5 x NAD+ 250mg and 2 x V8 drips. A mobile call-out costs R400 minimum, or R150 per person for groups, within the first 15km.

Every drip follows a medical screening questionnaire and is given by a registered nurse under Dr Chris van Zyl’s protocols. Tell us first about heart, kidney or liver conditions, pregnancy or chronic medication. Athletes tested under WADA rules may not receive more than 100 mL per 12 hours outside hospital without a Therapeutic Use Exemption, so check with your federation first.

Book online at book.mobivive.co.za/book and choose your lounge, or choose “Your Home, Office, etc.” and a nurse comes to you in Cape Town or Johannesburg. Group bookings for teams and offices pay R150 per person for the call-out. For questions, WhatsApp or call 061 509 6038.
