Vitamin C, Zinc & Selenium

Immune Drip
in South Africa

An immune drip is a vitamin and mineral IV infusion, built around vitamin C, zinc and selenium, that a registered nurse gives straight into a vein. At mobivIVe, the immune drip in South Africa comes in two options: The Kick-Start (Super Immune Boost IV Therapy) at R1,350 and the Dr John Myers, our classic Myers cocktail vitamin drip, at R1,050. Each takes about 45 minutes. Walk into our lounges in Sunninghill, Stellenbosch and Queenstown, or book a mobile vitamin drip near you in Cape Town and Johannesburg, where a nurse comes to your home, office or hotel.

What is in it. The Kick-Start combines glutathione, high-dose vitamin C, the Myers cocktail (B vitamins, magnesium and calcium), vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin, selenium and zinc, and a B complex. The Dr John Myers keeps to the classic formula of B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium and calcium. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that collects in white blood cells, and a review in Nutrients describes its role in both innate and adaptive immunity. According to the NHS, zinc helps the body make new cells and enzymes, and selenium helps the immune system work properly. For the history of the formula, read What is a Myers cocktail?

Who chooses it. An immune drip is popular with people heading into a busy work season, frequent flyers before or after a long-haul trip, parents juggling a full school term and anyone who wants a vitamin C drip as a hydration and vitamin top-up. We are honest about the science: a placebo-controlled pilot trial of weekly Myers cocktail infusions in people with fibromyalgia found no statistically significant difference from placebo, and Cleveland Clinic notes limited evidence for IV vitamins as a general wellness tool. See it as a convenient top-up, not a replacement for good food, sleep and your own doctor.

How to book, in 3 simple steps

  1. Book online. Choose your drip, a walk-in lounge (Sunninghill, Stellenbosch or Queenstown) or a mobile drip at your home, office or hotel, and a time at book.mobivive.co.za.
  2. Medical screening. You complete a short medical questionnaire before your drip, so anything that needs extra care is picked up first.
  3. Relax while a registered nurse gives your drip. Most drips take about 45 minutes; NAD+ is given slowly over 90 to 120 minutes.

Is the immune drip right for me? Before your drip you complete a medical screening questionnaire, which a registered nurse reviews under the protocols of our medical director, Dr Chris van Zyl. If you have a heart, kidney or liver condition, are pregnant or take chronic medication, tell us first so we can check that a drip suits you. The nurse places a small cannula in your arm and you relax for about 45 minutes. You can choose a 200ml or 1000ml saline bag at no extra cost, and add extra vitamins if you wish.

It is not a treatment for any illness.

The Kick-Start contains glutathione, high-dose vitamin C, the Myers cocktail, vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin), selenium and zinc, and a B complex. The Dr John Myers is the classic Myers cocktail: B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium and calcium. Both are mixed into a saline bag, and your nurse can add extra vitamins if you ask.

At mobivIVe, The Kick-Start costs R1,350 and the Dr John Myers costs R1,050, and each takes about 45 minutes. A 200ml or 1000ml saline bag is included, and a 1000ml bag with dextrose is R200 extra.
