It is our most complete drip by ingredient list, and it also forms part of the Elite NAD+ Programme (R10,600), which pairs NAD+ 250mg with The Royal. What is in it. The Royal IV contains alpha lipoic acid, glutathione, vitamin C, selenium and zinc, the Myers cocktail (B vitamins, magnesium and calcium), L-carnitine, glutamine, folic acid, biotin, arginine and phosphatidylcholine. The NHS explains that vitamin C helps protect cells and keep skin, blood vessels, bones and cartilage healthy. Folate helps the body form healthy red blood cells, and biotin helps it make fatty acids, also according to the NHS. Glutathione, which the body builds from three amino acids, helps cells handle oxidative stress, as a review in Biological Chemistry describes.
Who chooses it. The Royal IV suits people who would otherwise struggle to choose between several drips and prefer one visit that covers hydration, B vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It is popular before a wedding or big event, ahead of a long-haul trip, and as a monthly top-up for busy executives. To be clear, more ingredients do not automatically mean more benefit, and Cleveland Clinic notes that evidence for IV vitamins in healthy people is still limited. If you only want one thing, such as hydration or vitamin C, a simpler drip may suit you better.
How to book, in 3 simple steps
Book online. Choose your drip, a walk-in lounge (Sunninghill, Stellenbosch or Queenstown) or a mobile drip at your home, office or hotel, and a time at book.mobivive.co.za.
Medical screening. You complete a short medical questionnaire before your drip, so anything that needs extra care is picked up first.
Relax while a registered nurse gives your drip. Most drips take about 45 minutes; NAD+ is given slowly over 90 to 120 minutes.
Is The Royal IV right for me? Before your drip you complete a medical screening questionnaire, and a registered nurse reviews it under the protocols of our medical director, Dr Chris van Zyl. Because The Royal contains many ingredients, it is important to tell us first if you have a heart, kidney or liver condition, are pregnant or take chronic medication. The nurse places a small cannula in your arm and the drip runs for about 45 minutes. Choose a 200ml or 1000ml saline bag at no extra cost, or a 1000ml bag with dextrose for R200 extra.
