Saline + Vitamins, Nurse Given

Hydration IV Drips
in South Africa

A hydration IV drip is a bag of saline (salt water matched to your blood) that runs into a vein, usually with vitamins and minerals added. At mobivIVe every drip comes with a 200ml or 1000ml saline bag at no extra cost, so any of our drips can be a hydration drip. You book online at book.mobivive.co.za, complete a medical screening questionnaire, and a registered nurse gives the drip at a lounge or at your home, office or hotel. Prices start at R750.

What is in a hydration drip? The base is sodium chloride 0.9% (normal saline). Our hydration drips add the Myers cocktail (B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium and calcium) and, depending on the drip, vitamin B12, a B complex or glutathione. The NHS describes dehydration as losing more fluid than you take in; for most people, drinking water is the first and simplest answer, and a drip is a convenient top-up rather than a replacement for water.

Which drip to choose. The Student Drip (R750) is our simplest saline and vitamin drip; Dr John Myers (R1,050) is the classic Myers cocktail; The Kick-Start (R1,350) adds glutathione, vitamin C and B12; The Babelas Beater (R1,250) is often booked the morning after a celebration; and The Beast (R1,500) adds a B complex for busy weeks. How to book, in 3 simple steps

  1. Book online. Choose your drip, a walk-in lounge (Sunninghill, Stellenbosch or Queenstown) or a mobile drip at your home, office or hotel, and a time at book.mobivive.co.za.
  2. Medical screening. You complete a short medical questionnaire before your drip, so anything that needs extra care is picked up first.
  3. Relax while a registered nurse gives your drip. Most drips take about 45 minutes; NAD+ is given slowly over 90 to 120 minutes.

How booking works. Book online at book.mobivive.co.za: choose a walk-in lounge (Sunninghill, Stellenbosch or Queenstown) or a mobile drip at your home, office or hotel. You complete a medical screening questionnaire first, and a registered nurse gives your drip under the protocols of our medical director, Dr Chris van Zyl. If you have a heart, kidney or liver condition, are pregnant or take chronic medication, tell us before your drip. Mobile visits carry a call-out fee of R400 minimum, or R150 per person for groups, covering the first 15km. Questions? WhatsApp us on 064 512 8018.

Frequently asked questions

A hydration drip is an IV bag of saline, usually with vitamins and minerals added, that runs into a vein through a thin cannula over about 45 minutes. A registered nurse gives it after you complete a medical screening questionnaire.

Our drips cost R750 to R3,050. The Student Drip is R750, Dr John Myers R1,050, The Babelas Beater R1,250, The Kick-Start R1,350 and The Beast R1,500. Mobile visits add a call-out fee of R400 minimum, or R150 per person for groups, covering the first 15km.

A 1000ml bag gives you more fluid and takes a little longer to run. You choose the bag size at no extra cost; your nurse checks it suits you during screening.

Not as a rule. Cleveland Clinic notes there is limited scientific evidence of a general wellness benefit from IV vitamin therapy. For everyday thirst, water is the answer; a drip is a convenient top-up.

Tell us before your drip if you have heart, kidney or liver disease, high blood pressure, are pregnant or take chronic medication. Extra fluid is not suitable for everyone, which is why every client is screened first.

Yes. A registered nurse can come to your home, office, hotel or event. Book online at book.mobivive.co.za and choose “Your Home, Office, etc.”

There is no fixed rule: it depends on your medical screening, the drip, your health and how you felt last time. Most clients book occasionally rather than on a schedule. Read how often you should get an IV drip.
